Mall History

Valley Fair Mall opened in 1970 with two department stores, JCPenney and ZCMI. Mervyn's opened in 1980 as the third department store. A major remodel and renovation was completed in 1986 including the addition of the 12 eateries in the Food Court and a Cinemark Theater. Costco added as part of the initial redevelopment of Valley Fair Mall with Satterfield Helm in August 2007.  The major portions of the redevelopment are underway with the first of four phases:
     - Phase One: Restaurants, retail and drive through Wells Fargo Bank
     - Phase Two: Partial mall face-lift with interior redevelopment, outdoor retail, restaurant
       and promenade with water features
     - Phase Three: Partial mall face-life with mid-box in south end of complex and landscaping
     - Phase Four: Final mall face-lift with junior anchor(s) on east side of mall
